SUN (Summer Nutrition) Driver

Employment Status: Seasonal Full Time 40 hours a week

Pay Rate: $10.00 per hour

Position Overview:

The Central Kitchen Van Driver is responsible for delivering food and supplies based on the daily menu and meal counts provided by the Central Kitchen Operations Manager. This position requires physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and handling bulk food and cases up to 100 pounds, as well as operating cargo vans in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Must possess a Class D license with an F (For-Hire) endorsement.

  • Drive van routes assigned in a safe and defensive manner, adhering to all traffic laws and agency guidelines.

  • Load cargo van with the necessary food and supplies for assigned routes, and deliver meals and supplies as required.

  • Clean and sanitize food carriers daily, maintain the cleanliness of the van inside and out, and perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed.

  • Assist with cleaning the kitchen as needed.

  • Arrive at work on time, maintain professionalism, and report any emergencies directly to the Maintenance and Distribution Supervisor and Kitchen Operations Manager in advance of the regular starting time.

  • Display a friendly and positive attitude towards job duties and other employees, and complete tasks willingly and without complaints.

  • Abide by agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and the personnel policy manual.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with at least 2 years of safe, unrestricted driving experience.

  • Valid Class D driver's license with a clean driving record, including no convictions or citations for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Ability to stoop, reach, lift, and carry bulk food and supplies up to 100 pounds.

  • Must demonstrate good character, competency, and fitness for employment. A clean drug test is required.
